Attention Black Student Union members! Please make note of some upcoming important dates and events.
Our next meeting will be held Wednesday 11/13 right after school in Mrs. Stephens’ room, A229. Also on Wednesday 11/13 is our club photo. Please pick up your pass in A208 on either Tuesday or Wednesday — you MUST have this pass to get out of class for the photo. Finally, our next field trip to Baker Mansion to view the Underground Railroad exhibit is Wednesday 11/20. Please pick up your field trip permission slips in A229.
Attention Astronomy Club: Due to the craziness of the short week, our next meeting will not be until Thursday, November 14. We will recap Haunted Fort Roberdeau, and enjoy some free popcorn and a spooky Mr. Krug presentation on the Planetarium dome. The event will run from 2:50 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., so stay tuned for details!
Attention anyone interested in Indoor Track and Field: There will be an organizational meeting next Wednesday, November 13 immediately after school in room A225. The meeting will last about 30 minutes. See Coach Adams with any questions.
Club group photo days are almost here. Next Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12 and 13, groups are scheduled to have photos taken on the stairs beside room B130. Please check the schedule outside B130 or the cafeteria for group photo times. Your adviser should provide a pass. See Mrs. Vanish or your club adviser with
any questions.
Attention Junior Academy of Science Club members: Group pictures start on Tuesday (11/12) and Wednesday (11/13) for all clubs. Time for group pictures is posted in google classroom. You will need to pick up a pass from Miss Kutruff in A308 before 11/13 to attend the picture. See google classroom for more details! Think

Attention students: Can we tell you a secret? This year’s fall play is a thriller called Trap! and will be performed tonight and Saturday night in the AAHS Auditorium. Tickets are available NOW in the student store for only $5 for students and $8 for adults. Tickets can also be purchased online at the link on our posters!
Attention anyone interested in participating in a winter sport: Physicals will be held for athletes interested in winter sports on Thursday, November 14 at 3 p.m. in the trainer’s room in the fieldhouse. If you have any questions regarding physicals, online registration or registration fees, please stop in the Athletic Office.
Seniors: Are you planning to attend college after graduation? Have you completed at least 25 hours of documented community service and maintain at least an 85% or higher in all of your classes? If you can answer “yes” to all of these questions, be sure to stop by the literature rack outside of Guidance and pick up an application for the Richard L. McEldowney Academic Scholarship. The deadline to submit a completed
application to the Guidance Office is December 4 – no exceptions.
Seniors: Stop by the literature rack to find a new scholarship offered by the family of Robert Hite. Scholarships are being awarded to 1 male student and 1 female student who exemplify outstanding performance in the areas of Academic Achievement, Citizenship, leadership and community service. The deadline to submit a completed application to the Guidance Office is December 4 – no exceptions.
It’s that time of year! Altoona’s Got Talent!!! We invite all our AAHS students to bring your best talent to our AAHS Talent Show, whether that be singing, dancing, magic, comedy, or your best hidden talent! We
encourage you to perform as an individual or with a group. We want to see them all! Many of you are incredibly talented and we can’t wait to show our school just how amazing you are. Auditions are Tuesday, November 12 beginning at 3 p.m. in the Bandroom. Auditions are open to all students and everyone is encouraged to be part of the show!! Please use the QR code on the posters found around the school to officially sign up. You will be given an exact time for your audition. The Talent Show is Friday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in the Black Box Theater. Please see Mr. Cossitor or Mrs. Detwiler with any questions!
